Elected officials and professional staff from Cary, Apex and Wake County government aboard Jordan Lake Journeys pontoon boat for informative tour starting at Poes Ridge Boat Ramps and motoring to US 64 bridge. Discussion points: benefits for water supply, recreational and wildlife habitats and threats from the watershed from pollutants and trash. Funded by a Syngenta Community Foundation grant to Clean Jordan Lake.
200 volunteers joined us for this event. We tackled a huge load of trash on North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission Game Land after having to cancel our Annual Fall Trash Cleanup. Hurricanes Florence and Michael raised havoc. These were followed in November by yet another tropical storm. In total, over 20 inches of rain fell last Fall, raising the lake level three times and never a chance to return to normal. Learn more about our public cleanup events here.
