You can help clean up Jordan Lake.
After years of study, the North Carolina Environmental Management Commission has proposed a package a rules to clean up Jordan Lake. The rules will reduce nitrogen and phosphorus from wastewater treatment plants, and reduce polluted runoff from agriculture and new and existing development. Although the rules are designed to clean up Jordan Lake, they will also clean up many of the creeks upstream.
The public comment period on the rules closed on September 14, 2007.
The Environmental Management Commission is reviewing the thousands of public comments and will distill them into a final version of the rules over the next few months.
